PDC will be hosting a 4 week, 8 game, short season league. Games will be played on the following dates September 6/7, 13/14, 27/28, and October 4/5 (note that September 20/21 weekend will not have league games). Each weekend will consist of a double header against different teams so yes, you will be guaranteed to play back to back games. Sunday games will not start before 12:00pm and we will not schedule you for more than 2 Sundays unless requested.
All games will be played at the Player Development Center in Bedford, TX.
Games will be ran on 1hr 40min time limits. We will implement some pace of play rules to do our best to get more baseball!
Pace of Play Rules
We will only allow each pitcher 5 warm-up pitches when entering the game and 4 warm-up pitches between innings.
Each team is allowed 4 timeouts per game. A timeout is defined as any stoppage of game time not considered to be between innings. If the coach exceeds their 4 timeout limit then the 5th timeout must result in a substitution.
Timeouts include:
-Coach mound visits
-Coach talking with hitter (unless the stoppage is initiated by the other team’s mound visit)
-Coach appealing with the umpire and not having a reversed call. In the event the umpire reverses their call due to the appeal a timeout will not be taken away.
-Player mound visit
FOR LEAGUE PLAY
Coaches may opt to have a 25 pitch per inning rule. This is the best way to ensure all your pitches get a desirable amount of work.
-Both teams must put this rule into effect at the start of the game.
-The inning will end when the pitcher reaches 25 pitches but they must finish the at bat when they reach their 25th pitch.
-If the pitcher maxes out without completing the inning, every runner on base will count as a run.
-You are not allowed to sub a new pitcher during an inning unless there is an injury. The player who does not complete the inning will not be allowed to play the field for the remainder of the game.
-Each pitcher is only allowed 3 warm-up pitches between innings.
